4646 Not all beautiful things at McKee Gardens are flowers. This blue dasher dragonfly chose a perfect (for me) place to perch and watch for food flying by. It was in the sun, while the background was in the shade, so I could take this photo that shows it off with no background distractions. And although it flew off every now and then to chase down a morsel it came back to re-perch on the same stick to wait for the next morsel. Dragonflies do this, which makes them easy to photograph if you have the patience. And placing extension tubes between a telephoto lens and your camera, or using a macro lens, enlarges the dragonfly’s image on your camera’s sensor so you can see detail that you could never see with your naked eye. Macro photography rocks!
